SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -Henrik Sedin scored two goals and his brother Daniel added another as the Vancouver Canucks beat the San Jose Sharks 6-2 in a preseason game Friday night.
Willie Mitchell, Dave Scatchard and Christian Ehrhoff also scored for the Canucks.
Dan Hinote and Jamie McGinn scored for the Sharks.
The Canucks scored three times in the game's first 9 minutes and took a 5-0 lead into the third period.
"The crowd here is phenomenal to play for," said Hinote. "We owe them more effort than tonight."
"We understand it's the first exhibition game (for some), but we expect more," said Sharks Head Coach Todd McLellan.
Still the Sharks did battle for two goals after trailing 5-0.
"It's easy to play when it's 1-1," said Hinote. "It's hard when it's 5-0."
Vancouver starting goalie Andrew Raycroft stopped the first 22 shots he faced while Sharks' starter Thomas Greiss appeared overwhelmed, allowing five goals among the 14 shots he faced. Alex Stalock, who had 11 saves, took over midway through the second period.
Mitchell took advantage of traffic in front of the net midway through the first period. He slapped the puck into the upper right corner from just inside the blue line.
Just over a minute later, Alex Burrows dug the puck out of the corner and backhanded a pass to Scatchard, who beat Greiss.
Daniel Sedin made it 3-0 less than 2 minutes later, finding the open net after redirecting Henrik's shot.
Daniel led the Canucks with 31 goals last season while Henrick was the team leader with 60 assists. They tied for the team lead with 82 points each.
Hinote got the Sharks on the scoreboard 4 minutes into the third period by picking up Nicholas Petrecki's deflection.
Ehrhoff, a former Sharks' fan favorite, was not well received when he scored Vancouver's final goal on a slap shot from long range.
McGinn ended the scoring with his follow on Patrick Marleau's blocked shot.
The Sharks will host Phoenix Saturday night at HP Pavilion and tickets can be found at www.ticketmaster.com or at the HP Pavilion Ticket Office. It won't be known until Saturday morning if Dany Heatley will play in the contest.
