The Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks have buried some recent frustrations. One of them will be frustrated again Saturday night.

The Bruins and Sharks each go for back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they face off at TD Garden.

Reigning Stanley Cup champion Boston (3-4-0) is trying to build on its best performance of the season, a 6-2 victory over Toronto on Wednesday. It was just the Bruins' second regulation victory, and came two nights after they piled up a season-high 72 penalty minutes during a 4-1 loss to Carolina.

"Obviously, we've been a little frustrated and it showed at the end of the Carolina game," said left wing Milan Lucic, who had one goal and two assists against the Maple Leafs. "What we've been able to do well as a team is we've always been able to turn that emotion into a positive and that's what we were able to do."

The Sharks (2-3-0) found themselves in a similar situation after opening 2011-12 with a solid 6-3 win over Phoenix on Oct. 8. They dropped three in a row and appeared headed for another defeat Friday at New Jersey before overcoming a two-goal, second-period deficit to win 4-3 in a shootout. Joe Pavelski earned San Jose at least a point in the standings by tying the game with 32.4 seconds left in regulation.

"There was a little bit of frustration," said coach Todd McLellan, whose club is entering the second stop on a six-game road trip. "It wasn't smooth going. As coaches we could feel it. As the night went on and we got the two quick goals, we started to believe again that it could be done. We felt the frustration come back after the third goal but we stuck with it. It's a good sign for our team."

Pavelski leads the Sharks with three goals, but his tally against the Devils was his first since netting two in the opener. He hasn't scored in four meetings with the Bruins.

Joe Thornton, a member of the Bruins from 1997-2005, scored his first goal of the season Wednesday in his 1,000th career game and also set up Pavelski's score.

Logan Couture is still seeking his first goal of the season after his 32 in 2010-11 set a Sharks rookie record. One of those tallies came in a 2-0 win at Boston on Feb. 5, when Pavelski and Thornton combined for one shot on net.

That contest was the third straight win in Boston for San Jose, which has not lost to the Bruins on the road since a 5-2 defeat Dec. 23, 2002, when Thornton had a goal and an assist for the victors.

Bruins center Tyler Seguin appears to be fulfilling the promise of being drafted second overall in 2010, after getting 11 goals and 11 assists last season. He's more than one-third of the way to matching that point total already this season, with two goals and six assists.

Fellow center David Krejci failed to score on three shots against the Maple Leafs after missing three games with an undisclosed injury. His 49 assists led the Bruins last season while his 62 points tied Lucic for the team lead.

"(Wednesday) it took me a little while to get going, but once I got going I felt pretty good," Krejci told the team's official website. "I remember - it was the first shift I had - and I kind of wasn't warm yet.

"But after I got warmed up I felt pretty good and I was pretty happy about the game."

Krejci has no points in three career meetings with San Jose.
