2013-14: Picked up 15 points (4-11=15) in 69 games with Worcester. Ranked 3rd on the team with 111 PIM’s. Accrued seven fighting majors. Set career highs in games played (69), goals (4), assists (11), points (15), and penalty minutes (111). Received first NHL recall on Jan. 22. Assigned to Worcester on Sept. 30.
2012-13: Registered 10 points (1-9=10) and five fighting majors. Scored his first professional goal, added an assist, and was #1 star vs. St. John’s on Nov. 3.
2011- 12: 4th amongst team defensemen in plus/ minus (+2). Recorded first professional point on Jan. 28 at Manchester with an assist.
2010-11: Amongst OHL defensemen, the team captain ranked 6th in points, 5th in goals and T-7th in assists. Was named to “Team OHL” for the 2010 Subway Super Series. Led all Kingston defensemen in goals, assists and points (assists and points were career highs). 2nd amongst team defensemen in playoff scoring.
2009-10: Invited to the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship Development Camp as a member of Team Canada. Served as alternate captain. Led all Kingston defenseman during the regular season and set a career high in goals. Finished 3rd amongst OHL defenseman in goals and 15th in points during the regular season. Finished 2nd on the team in PIM. Despite missing the first two games of the first round (suspension), finished T-1st on the team in playoff assists and T-2nd in points.
2008-09: 13th in the league and led team in PIM. Participated in CHL Top Prospects Game.
2007-08: 3rd on the team and 4th amongst league rookies in PIM. Member of Team Canada and won a gold medal at the 2008 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. Also on the Team Ontario squad that won a gold medal at the 2008 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge.
PERSONAL: “Dortz” lists these as his favorites: steak (food); basketball (sport other than hockey); Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead (TV shows); Drake (artist); Caribbean (vacation spot); The Grill (San Jose restaurant); Call of Duty (video game). If he wasn’t playing hockey, Doherty would be a doctor. If he had to pick an actor to star in a movie about his life it would be Bradley Cooper…He cannot live without his phone. Lists both Chris Pronger and Rob Blake as his hockey idols. His biggest influence on his hockey career is his parents.
