- Rissmiller is one of eight children (five brothers, two sisters)br>- Had the opportunity to play collegiate lacrosse at Holy Cross but opted to focus on hockey
- Became the second Holy Cross product and first MAAC product to play in the NHL. Former Holy Cross goaltender Jim Stewart played in one NHL contest with the Boston Bruins during the 1979-80 season.
