Sheppard is Brocade 'Sharks Player of the Month'
SAN JOSE - The San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) announced today that forward James Sheppard (@jimmysheppard15) has been selected as the Brocade (@BRCDcomm) "Sharks Player of the Month" for February and March. Only one player was selected "Player of the Month" for February and March because of the Olympic Break (Feb. 9-25).
Sheppard finished the months of February and March with 14 points (3-11=14) in 20 games, ranking 2nd on the Sharks in assists (11) and plus-minus rating (+10) during that time. He registered his first career five-game point streak from Feb. 5 to Mar. 4, posting five points (1-4=5) and a plus-5 rating during that span. Sheppard was also named one of the three stars of the game a total of four times, earning second star honors on three separate occasions.
This is the first time Sheppard has been named Brocade Player of the Month.
Established in the 1996-97 season, the Brocade "Sharks Player of the Month" program honors the Sharks player(s) who have contributed most to the team's success each month. Brocade will donate $2,500 on behalf of the player(s) to the Sharks Foundation. In addition, one player will be selected as the Brocade "Sharks Player of the Year" at the conclusion of the season and Brocade will donate $5,000 on his behalf to The Sharks Foundation. The Sharks Player of the Month and Year award program has donated more than $300,000 to the Sharks Foundation since the program's inception.
