The Sharks entered Friday night with a tie for the lead in the Pacific Division. A win over the Islanders on Long Island would mean, at the least, a temporary lead in the division, once thought impossible by some earlier in the year.

First Period

Marleau sent Clutterbuck to the ice with a check. Going to repeat that. Marleau sent Clutterbuck to the ice.

The Sharks got out to a bit of a slow start in the first 10 minutes of the game, but reversed the trend once the halfway mark passed.

And they kept on. Demers finished a beautiful display of passing.

Second Period

The Islanders pulling back within one would become an annoying repetition all night long.

Double digit goals from Captain Assist!

Again, annoying. Really kept killing the Sharks buzz.

A timely Havlat goal showed he can still pick the corner, lead widened to 4-2.

Third Period

The final frame was mostly this...

Until...

But thankfully...
