Twitter Tales: #FunMustBeAlways
Things can get a bit down after three consecutive losses. Doubt creeps into your mind and opinions quickly shift with such magnitude that make you wonder if you'll ever see victory (or even a goal) again. But just at that moment, uplifting inspiration comes from a forgotten and thought to be unreachable source.
Today after exersice...i have a lot of new young friends:-D..fun must be alwalys:-)) pic.twitter.com/oM005RF2Py— Tomáš Hertl (@TomHertl) January 31, 2014
Tomas Hertl, the Sharks rookie who was a leader in the Calder race and a strong possibility to represent his country at the Olympics, has been out of the picture since surgery on his injured knee from a collision with Kings captain Dustin Brown this fall. That is, until he tweeted a picture of his recovery efforts that hopefully reminded everyone to avoid arbitrary emotional swings of an 82-game season.
Or maybe it's just one crushing reminder how much we all miss Tomas' smiling face on the ice?
The Blackhawks arrived in San Jose the morning of the game, flying in from Vegas after a brief team vacation in Sin City.
Meanwhile, in the Woo.

Patrick Kane, Dan Boyle hit posts and we’re still scoreless in the first #SJSharks— Kevin Kurz (@KKurzCSN) February 2, 2014
Some of this...
Kept it scoreless.
#SJSharks PK has looked solid against NHL's 4th best power play tonight.— David Pollak (@PollakOnSharks) February 2, 2014
It was still a defensive battle of scoreless action that began the third, but oddly enough, a short-handed opportunity that broke things open.

But Hawks answered with a goal from Pittsburgh born Brandon Saad.

The Hawks most shots against in a game this year are 42 the last time they played the Sharks and tonight's 39— Jamie Baker (@Bakes_Jamie13) February 2, 2014
That was a beauty of a game winning shootout goal by Thornton to cap a great #SJSharks game!— Brendle Wells (@akajill) February 2, 2014
Joe "who knew" Thornton with a delicious toe drag and pull move to win it. That's right, Jumbo is 3-3 in the shoutout this year.— Jamie Baker (@Bakes_Jamie13) February 2, 2014
Guess the self given nickname of Lights Out Thornton is true. Pretty sick mitts— Logan Couture (@Logancouture) February 2, 2014
