Twitter Tales: #StreakSnapped
Well, the streak is over. There are worse ways to end a streak than a shootout loss on the road and the positive is the Sharks return home on Saturday, still unbeaten in regulation. As for those pesky Stars, here's how the night unfolded on twitter.
Dan Ellis will be in goal for the Stars against San Jose tonight.— Mike Heika (@MikeHeika) October 17, 2013
#SJShark Nieto and DAL forward Alex Chiasson were linemates at BU. Third guy on that line? Charlie Coyle.— David Pollak (@PollakOnSharks) October 17, 2013
Marleau (8pts) & Couture (9pts) have registered a point in every game this year. Join Crosby (PIT) & Hudler (CGY) as only to do so.— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) October 17, 2013
Really glad that this guy no longer skates against the Sharks.
It was #SpiritDay and support showed across the NHL.
Before puck drop, news of a successful surgery for Adam Burish was released and Bakes wanted to remind everyone of his value on this team.
Dan Rusanowsky never misses a chance for a history lesson.
Last man standing: DAL's Ray Whitney is the last active player to play in the Cow Palace as a Shark. Selanne and Jagr for other teams.— Dan Rusanowsky (@DanRusanowsky) October 18, 2013
A visit from an old friend! (Former Sharks PR guy now calls Dallas home.)
Welp, that was fast. Kennedy gets his 1st goal as a Shark 9 seconds into the game. #SJSharks— Jamie Baker (@Bakes_Jamie13) October 18, 2013
This is what I get for tuning in late. I missed a 9 second goal! #SJSharks— Jose Coria (@jcoria) October 18, 2013
Unfortunately the score was not indicative of how the rest of the game would play out, with a quick snap back to reality when Antti Niemi nearly pulled a Jonathan Quick.
Nemo .... You are a Fish, I Love You BUT PLEASE STAY IN YOUR LITTLE FISH BOWL!!! #SJSharks— Misty Leigh (@Misty3129) October 18, 2013
The first period was a bit back and forth (and pretty much the whole game. A great four-minute PK. followed by a Stars goal. Then the Sharks answered with a flash from the other rookie making a case to be noticed.
Followed by a Stars goal and their very unique goal song.

NIETO! What a play, dude out-skated everyone and makes this game 2-1 #SJSharks! Drew got it right, speed kills.— Matt Fraser (@TheFraze408) October 18, 2013
Matt Nieto is a disgustingly fast human being on skates. It's not even fair. #sjsharks— Justin Karp (@jskarp) October 18, 2013
Sharks hold a lead, but a very atypical stat sheet for them this season.
sharks are being outshot? is this real life #sjsharks— This is dream (@amzingsportsfan) October 18, 2013
Sharks fans were happy to have their broadcasting crew back.
Sharks Territory is alive and .... awake in Britain.
@SanJoseSharks Thanks for the favourite. It's 2.15am here in UK but the boys are certainly giving your British fans something to cheer about— Rhys Griffiths (@rhysdgriffiths) October 18, 2013
Too bad Dallas spoils the fun.
Give players in the NHL a little and space in NZ allowing them to attack with speed and bad things typically happen. Like Stars goal - 2-2— Jamie Baker (@Bakes_Jamie13) October 18, 2013
Causing Coach McLellan to shuffle his lines for the first time all season.
Hertl now skating with Pavelski and Wingels for #SJSharks.— David Pollak (@PollakOnSharks) October 18, 2013

But San Jose allowed Dallas to quickly answer, inciting a sleepy England.
Bloody hell Sharks, hold a lead will ya? #sjsharks— Rhys Griffiths (@rhysdgriffiths) October 18, 2013
The period kind of went like this...
Missing Dan Boyle on the power play #SJSharks— Ryan (@r_santos419) October 18, 2013
@SanJoseSharks my three favorite words: save by Niemi— j a s m i n e (@JasminaTheGreat) October 18, 2013
Which every Sharks fan feels differently about.
If the #SJSharks get out of this game with a result, it'll be in part due to Niemi's play in the third period.— Jacob Scarestrom (@jakesundstrom) October 18, 2013
Sharks have been in so many lop-sided games I cut my finger nails yesterday. Wish I hadn't. 3-3 with less than 4 minutes in 3rd. #SJSharks— Jamie Baker (@Bakes_Jamie13) October 18, 2013
The Sharks actually put some good pressure on during the OT period, but could not convert, which meant...
@SanJoseSharks Shootouts are lame. Nonetheless, this team is amazing and just need to carry this tide of or momentum to the next game.— Kyle Baker (@KyleBak3r) October 18, 2013
Super bummed about the @SanJoseSharks snapping the winning streak, but reminding myself it's just the start of an awesome season.— Tyler Harbaugh (@T_Harbaugh) October 18, 2013
