“They (Kings) did their job…they got two wins at home,” said Joe Thornton. "Now we need to go home and do our job.”

Before Game 3, let’s take a closer look GAME INSIDE THE GAME for the Sharks and the Kings.

Lineup changes for Game 3?

San Jose: No injuries reported for San Jose in Game 2. Defenseman Jason Demers is day-to-day and could see action in this series. Tim Kennedy replaced the suspended Raffi Torres (suspended for the rest of the LA Kings series) up front and Scott Gomez was moved up to center the third line. Gomez shined in his new role with two assists in Game 2.

Los Angeles: forward Jarret Stoll left Game 1 late in the second period after he was checked by Raffi Torres and did not play in Game 2 – he was replaced by Brad Richardson. Kyle Clifford and Willie Mitchell are still out with undisclosed injuries. The Kings missed Stoll in the face-off circle in Game 2 as the Sharks won 67.7% of the face-offs.

Did You Know?:

*Worcester Alumni…. With Tim Kennedy in the lineup in Game 2, the San Jose Sharks had 11 players dressed that had played with the Worcester Sharks in the AHL (Pavelski, Desjardins, Sheppard, Kearns, Couture, Vlasic, Kennedy, Irwin, Wingels, Braun, and Greiss).

*1st time for everything… the San Jose Sharks have never won a series when dropping the first two games of a series. The Sharks have dropped their previous nine series when falling in a 0-2 series hole. San Jose has been swept twice, lost in five games twice, and were eliminated in six games five times in those instances.

*Remember the first round… all ready this playoff season, both LA and the NY Rangers dropped their first two games of the series on the road and ended up winning their respected series to advance to Round 2.

*Home sweet home… with the win in Game 2, the LA Kings have won 12 straight games at the Staples Center dating back to March.

*Face-offs…. At one point in the second period, the Sharks had won 11 straight face-offs. San Jose won 44 of the 65 face-offs in Game 2 (67.7%).

*Time well spent…. Despite only playing 6:37 in Game 2 for the Sharks, Bracken Kearns led all Sharks players with four hits.

The Bottom Line:

“We will respond,” said Marc-Edouard Vlasic. “I thought we responded well tonight (Game 2)…. We should have won that game. Our group will be ready (for Game 3).”

Again, the Sharks did a lot of things well in Game 2... got traffic in front of the LA net and scored three goals vs. Jonathan Quick, ruled the face-off circle, and came back from an early 2-0 deficit – but gave up two late power play goals and dropped Game 2. The Sharks went 0-for-3 on the power play while the Kings went 3-for-6…. this will have to change at the HP Pavilion. The Kings came back from a 0-2 series deficit in the first round the St. Louis Blues – how about the Sharks giving them a taste of their own medicine. It will have to start in Game 3 on Saturday night in San Jose! GO Sharks GO!
