Delays Expected in Downtown San Jose Sun, May 5

SAN JOSE, California - Sharks Sports & Entertainment in conjunction with law enforcement agencies in San Jose announced today that heavy traffic and delays should be expected in accessing the downtown San Jose area on Sunday, May 5. Due to various Cinco De Mayo Celebrations taking place throughout the downtown area as well as the Sharks playoff hockey game at 7 p.m. at HP Pavilion, thousands of people are expected to be heading downtown on Sunday. Parking restrictions and road closures could be used to direct traffic and could cause delays in arrival time.

Fans planning to be downtown on Sunday are strongly encouraged to carpool or use public transportation to access the area and to make plans to arrive early to your destination. Fans arriving early can participate in the Sharks Playoff Street Rally taking place on Autumn St. (immediately adjacent to HP Pavilion). The Street Rally begins at 5 p.m. and will include music, food and drink.

Sharks fans that opt to take the train should be aware that Caltrain will be using its standard Sunday schedule of operation with the last train departing the San Jose - Diridon station at 9 p.m. There will NOT be a train departing the station after the game. For more information on public transportation operations, visit the VTA website at www.vta.org or the Caltrain website at www.caltrain.com.

Additionally, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, fans entering HP Pavilion at San Jose will be subject to enhanced security measures during all Sharks Playoff home games in the coming weeks which may also lead to delays in entering the building. These measures will include guests being subject to search which may include the use of electronic devices, pat-downs and inspection of bags. Fans are discouraged from bringing unnecessary items to HP Pavilion events.

Individuals expecting to attend any upcoming event at HP Pavilion should be aware of the following policies:

• All guests are subject to metal detector screening, electronic wand screening and pat-down searches.

• All bags are subject to search. Only small purses and baby bags will be permitted in HP Pavilion. NO suitcases or backpacks will be permitted. Guests are encouraged to leave all unnecessary bags and other items at home or in their vehicle to expedite entrance to the building.

• Expect delays entering HP Pavilion. To avoid lengthy delays, fans are encouraged to arrive at least one (1) hour prior to the starting time of the event.
