SAN JOSE, California - All three Bay Area Sharks Ice facilities are set to participate in USA Hockey's Hockey Weekend Across America by offering special discounts and free clinics from Feb. 15-17.

Hockey Weekend Across America was created by USA Hockey in 2008 to engage the hockey community in celebrating the sport of hockey at all levels and expose the sport to new audiences.

The sixth annual Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by CCM, will be a three-day celebration of the sport of hockey that will take place nationwide.

Each of the three days associated with Hockey Weekend Across America has a theme, including "Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey" on Friday; "Bring A Friend to the Rink" on Saturday; and "Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes" on Sunday.

NBC Sports' "Hockey Day in America" will also take place on Sun., Feb. 17 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. PT. It will include an NHL doubleheader and content throughout the broadcast that showcases all levels of hockey in the United States.

Locally at Sharks Ice at San Jose, Sharks Ice at Fremont and the Oakland Ice Center Operated by Sharks Ice, Bay Area skaters can take advantage of the following promotions:

Sharks Ice and USA Hockey encourage you to wear your favorite hockey jersey! Whether you throw on your Bantam team's jersey or don your favorite NHL sweater, you can help spread the passion for hockey throughout the day.

Any person wearing a hockey jersey to any Sharks Ice public sessions will receive 50% off the price of admission.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 16 - BRING A FRIEND TO THE RINK DAY/TRY HOCKEY DAY
USA Hockey and the National Hockey League know that nothing spells excitement like a hockey game. If you know friends or family who have never been to a game, or need a refresher, invite them to a youth, junior, college, or professional game in your area. Sharks Ice facilities will be offering a limited number of opportunities to try hockey for free. The offer is limited to skaters ages 4-12.
