SAN JOSE, California - Sharks fans in south San Jose will have improved travel options when catching a Sharks home game during the 2012-13 season.
 
VTA has added a special game-night train that allows Sharks fans to travel from Santa Teresa and other South San Jose light rail stations directly to the San Jose Diridon station in downtown San Jose. The direct service eliminates the need to transfer between trains at the Convention Center Station, simplifying the travel experience for Sharks fans.
 
The train leaves Santa Teresa approximately one hour before game time and ends at the San Jose Diridon Station located right across the street from HP Pavilion. Furthermore, a return train will also run on game nights. The return train will leave no earlier than 15 minutes after the conclusion of the game, taking fans from Diridon Station back to Santa Teresa. 
 
The new service begins at the start of the regular 2012-13 hockey season (including playoffs). This special service will be evaluated at the end of the season to see if the ridership warrants continuation.
