SAN JOSE, California – San Jose Sharks prospects Tomas Hertl (Czech Republic) and Sean Kuraly (United States) have been invited to participate in their respective countries National Junior Team Selection Camps.

The camps will help determine which players participate in the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, set to be held in Ufa, Russia from Dec. 26, 2012 to Jan. 5, 2013.

The 19-year-old Hertl represented the Czech Republic at the 2012 World Junior Championship. There, he finished tied for first on the team in points (3-2=5) to go along with a +2 rating. Hertl was selected as one of the Czech Republic’s top players in the tournament by a panel of coaches.

This season for HC Slavia Praha in the Czech Extraliga, Hertl has posted 18 points (10-8=18) in 25 games. Along with leading Slavia Praha in goal scoring, Hertl has been named a player of the game five times. He also won gold with the Czech Republic at the 2012 Karjala Cup, an annual tournament held between national teams from Russia, Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Praha, Czech Republic was selected by the Sharks in the first round (17th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.

Kuraly, 19, took part in the 2012 US National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, NY from Aug. 4-11, 2012. Kuraly ended the camp tied for the lead in points, posting four goals and two assists in three games played.

A freshman at Miami of Ohio, Kuraly has two goals and one assist in 14 games.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound native of Dublin, Ohio was selected by the Sharks in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
