Sharks Foundation Gives Back to the Community
The Sharks Foundation Has Given $5.7 Million Since 1994
Over the past year, the Sharks Foundation has positively impacted the community by enhancing the lives of tens of thousands of underserved youth and their families.
In 2011-12, the Sharks Foundation was able to distribute over half-a-million dollars in monetary support and provide critical services and resources to those in need. Highlighting the year is the newly redesigned "Sharks Pediatric Clinic" at Valley Health Center Tully, which is a part of the Sharks Foundation’s focus on the health and wellness of the community.
The Sharks Foundation receives a large amount of support from within the community, whose members bid on items at charity auctions, purchase Mystery Pucks, donate to collection drives and attend fundraising events. Without such strong and passionate support, the Sharks Foundation would not exist. Below is a summary of the community impact from this season:
In addition to these monetary donations, the Sharks Foundation also helped more than 25,000 students learn about the importance of reading through "Reading Is Cool" Presented by Comerica Bank and donated more than 2,000 age-appropriate books to school libraries and classrooms. The Sharks Foundation also provided over $100,000 in Sharks tickets to more than 40 non-profit organizations and hundreds of underserved children.
Over the past two seasons, the Sharks Foundation has donated nearly $1 million to the community totaling over $5.7 million in donations since its inception in 1994.
