Sharks Radio Announcer Dan Rusanowsky Nominated for Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame

SAN JOSE, California
– San Jose Sharks Radio play-by-play announcer Dan Rusanowsky has been nominated for the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame’s Class of 2012. Each year, the California Historical Radio Society and the Bay Area Radio Museum & Hall of Fame honor the best radio broadcasters around the Bay Area. Some of the past inductees include Bill King (2006), Joe Starkey (2009), and Gary Radnich (2010).  Rusanowsky was nominated in the "Sports" broadcasting category and fellow KFOX Radio Morning Show host Greg Kihn was nominated in the "Announcer" category.

Rusanowsky has served as the play-by-play announcer for the San Jose Sharks since the team’s inception in 1991. He has broadcast every Sharks regular season and playoff game in franchise history, with the exception of 27 games he missed in the 2001-01 season after being involved in a serious auto accident. He broadcast his milestone 1,500th NHL game on October 8, 2011 vs. the Phoenix Coyotes.

Rusanowsky is responsible for producing all San Jose Sharks radio broadcasts, directs and administers the multi-station Sharks Radio Network (which provides coverage of all games for hockey fans in Northern California and parts of Nevada and Oregon) and oversees the relationship with flagship station KFOX 98.5/102.1 FM.

In addition, Rusanowsky has provided the play-by-play call on several Major League Soccer radio broadcasts and A-League “digicasts.” He has served as a guest host on KNBR 680 and 1050 AM, as well as the nationally syndicated “Sports Byline USA/Sports Overnight America” programs. He has brought his voice to radio and television commercials, Atari video games, feature films and corporate video programs over the years. A motor racing enthusiast, he also appears on Comcast SportsNet’s “Race Week” television program.

Outside the rink, Rusanowsky is a devoted member of the Bay Area community, making numerous public speaking and charitable appearances.

Fans can vote for this year’s Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame Inductees at www.BayAreaRadio.org/hof. Voting will be open now through July 7, 2012 and the results will be announced on Saturday, July 21, 2012 in Berkeley at the California Historical Radio Society's Bay Area Radio Museum “Radio Day on the Bay” event. The entire Class of 2012 will be inducted during a special celebration this October.
