The Sharks will open their 22nd NHL season at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Friday, Oct. 12 against the Anaheim Ducks. The team will play their first home game at HP Pavilion at San Jose on Monday, Oct. 15 against the New York Rangers. The 2012-13 Sharks schedule consists of 82 games – 41 home and 41 road contests.

The home schedule features 16 weekend contests (13 on Saturday, three on Sunday). The busiest home weeknight is Thursday (12), followed by Tuesday (seven), Monday (three), Wednesday (two) and Friday (one).

The Sharks will play Pacific Division rivals (Anaheim, Dallas, Los Angeles and Phoenix) six times each for a total of 24 games, in addition to playing members of the Western Conference’s Northwest Division (Calgary, Colorado, Edmonton, Minnesota and Vancouver) and Central Division (Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, Nashville and St. Louis) four times each (40 games).

The remaining 18 games in the 82-game schedule will involve the Sharks playing every opponent in the Eastern Conference at least once, home or away, with the three remaining games being devoted to interconference “at large” scheduling. This season San Jose’s “at-large” opponents are Buffalo, Philadelphia and 2012 Stanley Cup finalist New Jersey.

The Sharks three-way intra-state rivalry continues with the Anaheim Ducks (Nov. 24, Feb. 9, March 25) and the Los Angeles Kings (Dec. 20, March 2, March 14) each making three visits to San Jose.

The Sharks have a season-high seven-game road trip from Feb. 12 to Feb. 23. Immediately following that road trip, San Jose has a season-high nine-game homestand from Feb. 26 to March 14.

The 60th NHL All-Star Game will be held Jan. 27, 2013 in Columbus, Ohio. The All-Star break will be Jan. 25-27. The last Sharks game before the break will take place Jan. 22 at St. Louis, with the regular season resuming on Jan. 29 at Vancouver.

Information on Sharks individual game tickets and a complete broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.
