S.J. Sharkie Rappels 15 Stories For Charity
SAN JOSE – S.J. Sharkie is directing his knack for exciting death-defying stunts towards a good cause.

On Friday, Aug. 26, the San Jose Sharks mascot participated in The Breathe Extreme Challenge, a fundraiser to fight asthma, lung cancer, emphysema, COPD and other forms of lung disease. He rappeled 15 stories down the face of the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara at 12:00 (noon).

A consistent and familiar presence at every Sharks game, S.J. Sharkie has the enviable task of entertaining a sold-out crowd at HP Pavilion night-in-and-night-out, performing a variety of exciting death-defying stunts and acts. Since his debut in January 1992, Sharkie has become one of the most recognized mascots in the universe. He’s a highly respected figure both inside and outside of HP Pavilion and throughout the hockey community.

The Breathe Extreme Challenge is a fundraising event for Breathe California, a local agency devoted to fighting lung disease in all forms. Breathe California is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency and all donations are tax-deductible in keeping with IRS regulations. Breathe California is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2011.

Breathe California has partnered with Over the Edge, an event company that specializes in rappelling adventures, to keep safety as a priority while holding this event. Over the Edge has conducted this event in numerous cities across the United States and has an unblemished safety record. More information on Over the Edge is available at www.overtheedgeusa.com.
