Sharks Ice at San Jose will be adding a familiar face to their hockey staff this summer. On June 20, recently retired NHL player Curtis Brown will join the Sharks Ice team, focusing on youth player development with all youth hockey teams that utilize the facility. Brown will also be coaching a Jr. Sharks youth hockey team which will compete throughout North America.

“It’s rare that we get the opportunity to add such a high-level hockey player to our organization but it is even better when that individual is a high-quality person like Curtis Brown,” said Sharks Ice General Manager Jon Gustafson.

Brown played in 736 NHL games with Buffalo, San Jose and Chicago over 13 seasons from 1993-2008, posting exactly 300 points (129 goals, 171 assists), 398 penalty minutes and a +70 rating. He played 161 games for the San Jose Sharks over the course of three seasons (2004, 2006-2008), notching 33 points (15 goals, 17 assists).

Brown also added 29 points (14 goals, 15 assists) in 87 Stanley Cup Playoff games with Buffalo and San Jose.

He played his final two professional seasons in Switzerland with Kloten (2008-09) and EHC Biel (2009-10).

Brown and his wife, Ami, have three sons: Gage, Garrett, and Griffin. In addition, in 2008, Curtis and Ami founded the Aubri Brown Club, a nonprofit organization with the purpose of helping families who have lost a child. The couple tragically lost their four month old girl to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) in September 2005.
