Sharks Issue Contract To Abeltshauser

The San Jose Sharks today issued a bonafide contract offer to 2010 draft selection defenseman Konrad Abeltshauser, meeting the June 1 deadline to retain his rights.
Abeltshauser, 18, was selected to play for Team Germany at the 2010 World Junior Championships. In 58 games with the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL), he posted 27 points (eight goals, 19 assists) and 47 penalty minutes. In four playoff games with Halifax, he scored three goals.
The team also announced that two players selected in 2009, center Phillip Varone and defenseman Dominik Bielke, were not extended contract offers and will be eligible to re-enter the NHL Entry Draft.
