Sharks Sign Free Agent Forward Brodie Reid
“Brodie accomplished nearly everything an individual can achieve in his first season at the collegiate level,” said Wilson. “We feel that he is more than ready to take the next step in his professional development and we are pleased that he has chosen to do that with the San Jose Sharks.”
Reid, 21, recently finished his freshman season with Northeastern University where he was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. Reid posted 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 37 games, good for fourth on the team, including posting five points in three games of the Hockey East quarterfinals against eventual conference champion Boston University.
The six-foot-one forward completed the NCAA season as the second-highest-scoring rookie in Hockey East and tied-for-seventh overall in the conference in power play points with four goals and 13 assists, averaging 0.46 power play points per game.
The Delta, British Columbia native preceded his collegiate career with four seasons on three different teams in the BCHL, highlighted by a league-leading 52-goal season with the Burnaby Express in 2007-08, before playing one year in the USHL as captain of the Lincoln Stars in 2009-10.
Reid led the Stars in points (36), goals (16), assists (20) and shots (179) even though he skated in 16 fewer games than the second leading scorer.
