Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has traded defenseman Derek Joslin to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Joslin only knows the Sharks organization as he’s been with them from the moment he was drafted, but Niclas Wallin already has given him the scoop on the Raleigh area.
“I’m sure they are a great group of guys there and I look forward to meeting a whole new group of friends,” Joslin said.
Plus, Joslin could see a bump in what all NHL players hope for, increased playing time.
“I believe I’m an NHL player and have shown that in the games I have played,” Joslin said. “To be able to play regularly and get in the lineup a little more is going to help me.”
Joslin, originally drafted by San Jose in the fifth round (149th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, played in 17 games with San Jose this season, notching four points (one goal, three assists) and eight penalty minutes.
In 53 NHL games, all with the Sharks, Joslin posted seven points (one goal, six assists) and 26 penalty minutes.
