Former Sharks Player Passes Away
From Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson on the passing of Tom Cavanagh:

“We are shocked and saddened by the news today of Tom’s passing. Tom was an extraordinary young man and a terrific teammate who spent four seasons with our organization. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.”

Cavanagh was drafted by San Jose in the sixth round (182nd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft following a stellar collegiate career at Harvard University.

He spent four seasons within the Sharks organization, including Cleveland (2005-06) and Worcester (2006-2009) and remains the all-time leading scorer for the Worcester Sharks with 138 points (46 goals, 92 assists) in 202 games.

Cavanagh played in 18 NHL games with San Jose over two seasons (2007-09), picking up three points (one goal, two assists) and four penalty minutes.
