Sharks Holiday-Themed Jerseys to be Auctioned for the Sharks Foundation
The jerseys will be autographed by the respective players and sold via blind auction at the Sharks Foundation booth, located on the Concourse level adjacent to Section 124 during the Sharks vs. Edmonton Oilers game on Tuesday, Dec. 21 and the Sharks vs. Phoenix Coyotes game on Thursday, Dec. 23.
In the past, the jerseys were only sold via the in-game auction requiring fans to be present in order to participate. However, new for this year, fans who are not in attendance on Dec. 21 and 23 will still have a chance to bid on one Holiday Season-themed practice jersey via NHL.com.
The Sharks Foundation will be hosting an online auction beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 21 and ending on Tuesday, Dec. 28. Fans can access the auction by visiting the NHL Auction Website, available by clicking here.
All proceeds will benefit the Sharks Foundation in assisting local non-profit organizations in the Santa Clara County. More information about the blind auction format can be found on the Sharks Foundation Website at www.theSharksFoundation.org.
ABOUT THE SHARKS FOUNDATION
The Sharks Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the lives of youth and families in our community with an emphasis in the areas of Education, Heath and Safety, and Character Development. The Sharks Foundation supplies emergency aid when appropriate, executes unique and relevant programming, supports the advancement of youth hockey and provides financial support and resources to organizations that enrich the lives of those in need. Although the San Jose Sharks and the Sharks Foundation support a variety of community programs on various levels, we feel that the key to the long-term well-being of our community is our youth.
The San Jose Sharks are as deeply involved with the neighborhood we live in as we are with the game that we play. As role models, we feel responsible to give back to the community that so strongly supports us.
To this end, the Sharks Foundation was created in 1994 in an effort to increase our organizational impact on Santa Clara County. With the help of Sharks players, coaches and staff, the Sharks Foundation invests in the community with the hope of enhancing the lives of our youth. It quickly evolved and expanded beyond its original charter and has since donated over $4.1 million to more than 85 local beneficiaries. During the 2009-10 season, its contribution to local youth programs and organizations totaled $256,898 through monetary grants. In addition to the original grant program, the Sharks Foundation manages educational programs, hosts major fundraisers, executes pledge programs and implements community outreach events.
