San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the team has signed unrestricted free agent forward Cam MacIntyre to an entry-level contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MacIntyre spent the last four seasons with Princeton University and in 2009-10, finished with 10 points in 10 games (6 goals, 4 assists) as one of the team captains. He finished the season with eight penalty minutes and had a plus/minus rating of +6. MacIntyre finished his Princeton career with 60 points (29 goals and 31 assists), 101 penalty minutes and a +7 rating in 87 career games.

He’s been playing through injuries the last two years, but his best year came as a sophomore when he had 31 points and was on Princeton’s top line. That year Princeton won the ECAC and Ivy League titles and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 10 years. MacIntyre played with Mike Moore, a Sharks signee now in Worcester, during his first two seasons at Princeton.

“Cam is a physical player that brings great leadership to our organization,” said Wilson. “Head Coach Guy Gadowsky and the rest of the Princeton staff did an exceptional job in his four collegiate seasons and we look forward to continuing his development as a professional hockey player.”

The six-foot-one, 225-pound native of Sooke, British Columbia also spent three seasons in the BCHL with the Cowichan Valley Capitals (2003-2005) and the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (2005-06) prior to attending Princeton, including posting 75 points (41 goals, 34 assists) in 60 games in 2005-06 with Salmon Arm. The forward was named a captain and first-team all-star of the BCHL Coast Conference All-Star Team in 2005-06 and captained his teams in all three years of BCHL play.
