Sharks Sign 2005 Draft Pick Tony Lucia

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the team has signed forward Tony Lucia (loo-CHEE-ah) to an entry-level contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Lucia spent four seasons at the University of Minnesota appearing in 160 games and registering 82 points (34 goals, 48 assists). He served as one of the team captains this season and set career highs in goals (11), assists (17) and points (28) and was the team’s leading point producer.
Prior to his time at Minnesota, he played with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL from 2004-2006 where he posted 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists) in 67 games played.
“Tony is a player that can play in all situations and we are excited to see him transition to the professional level,” Wilson said. “Head Coach Don Lucia and his staff at Minnesota have done a tremendous job developing Tony and we are excited to integrate him into our organization.”
The six-foot, 175-pound native of Wayzata, Minnesota was originally selected by San Jose in the sixth round (193rd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
