You’ve watched him fight the biggest monsters in hockey --- grabbing opponent’s collars and administering left jabs while he shakes off his elbow pad to deliver a right hook. When he defends his teammates, this Sharks veteran enforcer doesn’t accept thanks for his work and he won’t take slack on the ice. But he has graciously agreed to answer your questions for this segment of “Ask the Sharks.”
Left wing Jody Shelley will be the next player featured on our weekly segment of “Ask the Sharks.” Submit your questions to askthesharks@sjsharks.com and we’ll pick the best ones to ask the 33-year-old native of Thompson, Manitoba.
Much has changed for Shelley since the last time he was on “Ask the Sharks.” In November, Shelley and his wife celebrated their son’s first birthday and the Sharks enforcer suffered a lower body injury that kept him out for 23 games. The new dad returned to action on Jan. 2 and registered seven hits in a season-high 10:46 of ice time against Edmonton and then played in his 500th National Hockey League game on Jan. 4 vs. Los Angeles.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Shelley has three points and 61 penalty minutes in 31 games. According to HockeyFights.com, of Shelley’s seven fights this season, he has three wins, two losses and two draws.
Check back on Sunday (which happens to be Shelly’s 34th birthday) to see if your question gets answered.
