Two players return and two others face their old team

When the Sharks faceoff with Nashville Tuesday night they will have some familiar faces returning to the lineup. After the morning skate, Sharks Head Coach Todd McLellan confirmed that Devin Setoguchi and Ryan Vesce will skate in the contest.

Setoguchi will be dropped on to the line with Joe Thornton and Dany Heatley.

“It’s great to get back into the swing of things,” said Setoguchi. “I’ll try not to break the flow of the streak going out there.”

“Seto will be right up in his regular position,” said McLellan. “No wading in at all. We’ll see how his stamina is and how much rust is on the hands and legs.”

Setoguchi will simply go back to doing what he does.

“I’ll play my game,” said Setoguchi. “It’s nice being back after two weeks off. I want to help and will try to score some goals with the line. I want to pick up where I left off.”

For Vesce, he surprised many with his early success so it was hard personally having to miss games when things had started so strongly.

“It was pretty frustrating because I was playing well,” said Vesce. “I think I’ll be playing with Staubie and McGinn. I’ve played with them before. We’ll try to keep it simple and get pucks in deep.”

GOOD TO SEE YOU
For Scott Nichol and Jed Ortmeyer, they will be playing their former Nashville teammates for the first time since signing with the Sharks in the offseason.

“I know most of the guys and some of the guys I played with in Milwaukee are up,” said Ortmeyer. “During the game I won’t think about it.”

Nichol is extremely happy to be in San Jose, but was glad to acknowledge his time in Nashville.

“We’ve still got a lot of friends there,” said Nichol noting there were several players who had kids in similar age groups. “There would be 25 kids at birthday parties, at the hockey rink and at baseball. I enjoyed it as a parent trying to figuring things out. We were very happy there.”

For Nichol, there has been one pleasant surprise about San Jose that he thought he would have to deal with when he signed.

“There is not traffic at all where I’m at,” said Nichol. “I look at the 101 and I’m glad I don’t have to deal with that.”

GETTING CLOSER
Forward Torrey Mitchell has been sent to Worcester on a conditioning assignment. In short, he will be able to play with the Worcester Sharks to find his game shape before a return to San Jose.

GREISS
McLellan will go with Thomas Greiss in net, giving the German netminder his second start. In his previous outing, Greiss helps San Jose shut down Philadelphia in a victory.

“He did play very well in Philadelphia,” said McLellan. “I see a goalie who is ready to play when the coach calls on him. We expect him to be sharp.”

Sharks Radio Play-by-Play Commentator Dan Rusanowsky and Jamie Baker recently participated in a fundraiser for Services for Brain Injury. Winning bidders at the auction got to sit down with the broadcasters and exchange some good food and hockey stories.
