Sharks Sign G Thomas Heemskerk
Free Agent Signs with Organization after Rookie Tournament

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced Tuesday that the team has signed goaltender Thomas Heemskerk to a standard entry level contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Heemskerk, 19, recently attended the Sharks Rookie Tournament as a tryout, posting a 2-0 record along with a 1.50 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage.
He split last season between Everett and Kootenay, posting a 16-21-3-3 record with a 3.15 goals-against average and a .887 save percentage. He also appeared in five postseason games with Everett.
This season, Heemskerk has notched a 2-0 record with a 1.93 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.
"Thomas played very well during this year’s rookie tournament and made a big impression on our staff," said Wilson. "Doug Soetaert and Craig Hartsburg have done a tremendous job working with Thomas and we look forward to him continuing his development with our organization."
The six-foot, 185-pound netminder is a native of Chilliwack, British Columbia.
