29-year-old Manny Malhotra will don teal in his 13th NHL season

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the team has signed center Manny Malhotra to a one-year contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Malhotra, 29, recently finished his 12th NHL season, posting a career-high 35 points (11 goals, 24 assists) and as a plus-nine with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He also finished fourth in the NHL in faceoff percentage among those who took at least 700 face-offs) at 58.0%. He took 1380 face-offs last season, 13th most in the NHL.
Malhotra finished second in the NHL face-offs in 2007-08 (59.0%), 12th in 2006-07 (55.1%) and sixth in 2005-06 (56.3%)
In 634 NHL games with the New York Rangers, Dallas and Columbus, he has posted 197 points (76 goals, 121 assists) and 344 penalty minutes.
The six-foot-two, 220-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario was originally selected by the New York Rangers in the first round (7th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
