SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed forward Micheal Haley to a one-year contract.
"Micheal plays with an edge and competes hard on every shift," said Wilson. "His hard-working, physical game brings a different dimension that teams have to account for, and he is a great teammate that will mesh well with our organization."
Haley, 28, collected 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) and 131 penalty minutes in 53 games with Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2013-14. The alternate captain finished ranked second on the Wolf Pack in penalty minutes.
The forward has recorded 114 points (57 goals, 57 assists) and 940 penalty minutes in 369 career AHL games with Hartford, Connecticut and Bridgeport, and has added two goals, one assist and 163 penalty minutes in 52 career NHL games with the New York Rangers and New York Islanders.
The five-foot-ten, 205-pound native of Guelph, Ontario, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Islanders on May 19, 2008.
