SAN JOSE, California – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed right wing Daniil Tarasov to a two-year contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Tarasov, 21, has split the 2012-13 season between Worcester (AHL) and San Francisco (ECHL). He is tied for tenth on Worcester with 17 points (9-8=17) in just 26 games played. With San Francisco, he has appeared in 17 games and posted 14 points (3-11=14).
“Daniil has had a very strong season and has earned this contract on merit,” said Wilson. “We also want to acknowledge the work of Worcester Sharks Head Coach Roy Sommer and Assistant Coach David Cuniff, and San Francisco Bulls Head Coach Pat Curcio, for their contributions to Daniil’s development.
Signed to an American Hockey League deal with Worcester on June 1, 2012, Tarasov spent three seasons in the USHL, his last two with Indiana. Over those two seasons, he totaled 163 points (84-79=163) in 117 games played.
The six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Moscow, Russia was signed as an undrafted free agent.
