Sharks rookie forward Tommy Wingels was nominated for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The Masterton Trophy is awarded each season to the National Hockey League player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
Wingels helped promote and support the You Can Play Project. The project is in honor of the late Brendan Burke, son of Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke.
Brendan was a student manager of the Miami University Hockey Team while Wingels served as the RedHawks captain.
