HOMEGROWN STAR CULLEN TO PLAY HIS 1,000TH
Star Tribune writer Kent Youngblood with a feature on Wild forward Matt Cullen and his journey to 1,000 NHL games. Neat comparison with Sharks broadcaster Bret Hedican, both native Minnesotans, played collegiate hockey at St. Cloud State Univeristy, won a Stanley Cup together in Carolina and both appeared in 1,000 games.

GOC SENDS HIS FORMER COACH TO OTTAWA
By virtue of his two-point performance, former Sharks forward Marcel Goc helped send his coach from the 2008-09 season to the 2012 NHL All-Star Game in Ottawa. Goc's Panthers squad defeated the Canucks in regulation, 2-1, which resulted in the Sharks earning the highest percentage of available points in the Western Conference for games played through Jan. 9. McLellan will join forces with Rangers head coach John Tortorella.
