NITTY ACTIVATED, OFF TO WORCESTER ON CONDITIONING ASSIGNMENT
Sharks GM Doug Wilson announced on Monday that the club activated goaltender Antero Niittymaki from his previous designation on the non-roster (injury) player list and sent him to the Worcester Sharks on a conditioning assignment. In another transaction, defenseman Jim Vandermeer has been placed on Injured Reserve.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Monday that it has fined Sharks center Andrew Desjardins $2,500 for boarding Blackhawks defenseman Sami Lepisto on Sunday night.
