Part of the ever talented Soviet National team throughout the 80's, Sergei Makarov broke in to the NHL at the age of 31. After a few seasons with the Calgary Flames, Makarov joined the Sharks and former Soviet linemate Igor Larionov in San Jose. Makarov registered 68 points in 80 games during his initial season in teal. He was also an influential member of the franchise's first-ever playoff team.
