Hammer Time - 11/14/2012

The team has been on a little roll lately, going 4-1-1 in the last two weekends. Its been nice to get some wins after a slow start. We have a lot of new players on the team this year, so I think we're starting to develop our chemistry and get used to the systems the coaches are teaching us. We're gaining confidence and look to keep improving.

Last weekend we had two big wins against divisional teams. I scored my first professional goal and it happened to be the game-winner in a 3-1 win over Portland. We ended off the weekend with a come from behind shootout win, capping off a pretty exciting weekend. This week we have two very important games. Portland is a division rival so we need to take advantage of that opportunity. We also face Connecticut. They beat us last week so it would be nice to get revenge on them. We will have to bring it both games.

Our group is a good mix of veteran and younger players. I'm obviously one of the younger players and the vets have done a good job at helping us adjust to the AHL. One of the players that I continually talk with is James Sheppard. He has experience at multiple levels and has definitely gone out of his way to give me pointers during games and has shown me a few things after practice.

Lastly, thanks to those who submitted questions from last week's blog. I enjoy seeing them so keep the coming! I'll answer just a few now and hopefully get to some more in my next blog.

Alissa Kosteriva wanted to know about the best fan experience I've had so far.

Well Alissa, I probably have to go with our home opener. It was my first time playing in the DCU and the rink was filled with Sharks fans. Coming out to the player intros and hearing the crowd was pretty great!

Carson Laschowski snuck a two part question in... she asked about playing in Niagara and wondered why I haven't jumped on the twitter bandwagon yet.

I had a lot of fun playing in Niagara. I played with my brother and at home which was fun. However, I played there for a few years and was excited to move on to a new level and a new place. I'm enjoying the challenge of faster and better hockey.

As for twitter, I think I'll leave that to Justin Bieber, Lady GaGa, and Curt Gogol haha.

Go Sharks!
