Randy's Ramblings - 11/14/2012
InnVision and the Shelter Network recently merged and represent 64 combined years of serving homeless families and individuals across the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Peninsula. The goal of the organization is to end homelessness. On the way to achieving that goal they provide food, housing, training and assistance to over 20,000 homeless men, women and children every year. These are dedicated people doing amazing work in our community.
While a dozen or so of my co-workers headed to the Julian Street Inn to thoroughly clean all the kitchen facilities and help with a special holiday themed crafts project, the rest of us descended upon the New Montgomery location with paintbrushes in hand to spruce up the main cafeteria area. Three hours later the room had a fresh coat of paint on it and we all felt grateful for the opportunity to lend a hand to a group of such dedicated people making such a profound difference in the Bay Area.
With the holiday season about to begin, the InnVision Shelter Network has special needs and also offers the opportunity for you to get involved in the program. I urge you to check it out on their website at www.ivsn.org/holidays/.
P.S. Tonight I’m off to one of my favorite events of the year, the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner. This years inductees include Steve Bartkowski, Roger Maltbie, Willy T. Ribbs and Brandi Chastain. I hope to see you there!
