To celebrate Sharks history, each week we will highlight moments of the past. So check back to the Daily Chomp each week to celebrate with us for Throwback Thursday. In addition, we will be giving away special Sharks throwback items every Thursday.

This week the Daily Chomp takes a look at the Sharks 2001-02 season.

Did you know... the Sharks won the Pacific Division title for the first time in 2001-02 and became just the second team in NHL history (NYI) to post six consecutive seasons of point improvement.

More from that year:
  • Set a franchise record with a 10-game unbeaten streak (9-0-1-0) from Nov. 27–Dec. 19.
  • Set a franchise record with a six-game road win streak (Dec. 6 –19)
  • Tied a franchise record by scoring 10 goals on March 30 vs. Columbus — the most ever at home.
  • Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov set franchise records in all-time wins (58), single-season wins (37), all-time shutouts (11) single-season shutouts (seven) and became the seventh NHL goaltender (first European-born NHL goaltender) to score a goal.
  • Forward Owen Nolan became the Sharks all-time points leader with his 351st point as a Shark.
  • Made the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a franchise-record sixth consecutive season.
  • Acquired forward Adam Graves and defenseman Rich Pilon.
Also, be sure to check out the Sharks History Page and the Photo of the Day.
