Throwback Thursday - 7/12/2012
To celebrate Sharks history, each week we will highlight moments of the past. So check back to the Daily Chomp each week to celebrate with us for Throwback Thursday. In addition, we will be giving away special Sharks throwback items every Thursday.
This week the Daily Chomp takes a look at the Sharks 2000-01 season.
Did you know... goaltender Evgeni Nabokov received the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL's Rookie of the Year.
More from that year:- Vincent Damphousse became the 58th NHL player to score 1,000 points when he assists on LW Marco Sturm’s goal on Oct. 14 vs. Boston.
- Gary Suter became the 153rd NHL player to appear in 1,000 games on Oct. 25 at Columbus. He also scored San Jose’s first goal in a 3-1 win.
- The Sharks finished with the sixth-best road record in the NHL (fourth-best in the Western Conference) and set a franchise record with a 10-game unbeaten streak on the road.
- The Sharks advanced to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a franchise-record fourth consecutive season and became just the fifth franchise in NHL history to improve its point total for the fifth consecutive season, setting franchise records for wins (40) and points (95).
- Signed Scott Thornton and Bobby Dollas, acquired Jeff Norton, Bill Lindsay and Teemu Selanne.
